Doncaster Young Producers

Working with Rebecca Smith from Urban Projections, a group of six Young Producers from Doncaster were introduced to the role of ‘Festival Producer’ and were rooted in the creation of the artwork for the Doncaster Festival of Light On Tour. The project was designed to engage with a cohort of young people who identified as female or global majority

The group got an insight into a range of learning from budgets to risk assessments alongside Rebecca as the group prepared for the Doncaster Festival of Light on Tour.

Workshops included a trip to see the Tate Modern to see the beautiful Anthony McCall exhibition in London with Rebecca and the Right Up Our Street Team, a visit to Rebecca’s workshop space at Welbeck and meetings at the Right Up Our Street Office on Scot Lane.

I’m proud to be a part of this project and it is a fun experience

An eye opening experience as we got to work with artists and producers to organise an event that people will look at and we can be proud of.

It was great having a chance to see an art exhibit in person as it set a standard to follow.

Young Producers Visit Rebecca’s workshop in Welbeck

Getting a chance to see the conditions that artists work in was amazing since it was very compelling imagining a potential future and lifestyle in an office like Bec’s studio.

Young Producers Meet at the Right Up Our Street Office

It’s pretty cool being able to work with an artist, so I’d say that it’s pretty great being a Young Producer! Especially since we’re helping out for the next Doncaster Festival of Light event, which is something that I (personally) absolutely love!
