DONCASTER SHEFFIELD AIRPORT RUNWAY
1,010 portraits of Doncaster's young people were displayed on the runway at Doncaster Sheffield Airport. Printed at the Inside Out Project's standard scale of 90cm x 135cm, the black and white photographs were taken of young residents from across the community as part of the wider We Are Donny action. The installation was one of two public displays making up the project, alongside the adult portraits shown on the side of Primark in the city centre, and turned the airport runway into a public exhibition of local faces.

COLLECTING THE PORTRAITS
Right Up Our Street visited organisations, schools and locations to photograph 1000 young people and 200+ adults as part of the Inside Out Project — a global participatory art movement created by artist JR that has united over 600,000 people across 154 countries through the power of large-scale black and white portrait photography displayed in public spaces.

THE INSTALLATION
The installation was made possible by the efforts of fantastic community groups coming together. Huge thank you to the groups who joined us, XP School, Stride, Yorkshire Rose College, Harrison College, 71st Hunafa Scouts and our Community Advisors. The groups collectively pasted 1010 portraits onto the runway in one day.

After the installation was complete, we had six schools come along to the runway to try and spot their faces. Thank you to the schools for coming to visit us: Tickhill St Mary’s CofE Primary, Balby Central Primary, Askern Littlemoor Infant Academy, Town Field Primary, Willow Primary and Mallard Primary.
