Remembering Simaa Jebabli

“In loving memory of Simaa Jebabli, we are establishing this GoFundMe page to raise funds for building wells. Simaa, a cherished soul, dedicated her life to spreading joy to everywhere she went. Her sudden passing has left a void in our hearts, but we seek to honor her legacy through this Sadaqah Jariyah, a continuous charity, by providing clean water to those in need. This act of kindness will serve as an everlasting tribute to Simaa's generosity and compassion.

Your support will help keep Simaa's light shining brightly in the world.”

Simaa is in the very fabric of Right Up Our Street. Simaa had a huge impact on our work - from taking part herself to eventually helping us shape and deliver the programme. She shared her experience of lockdown in Thoughts Formed, was celebrated for her voluntary work in Depictions of DN, and took part in online craft workshops with Nabeela Khan. The team fell in love with her open heart and sense of humour. Simaa decided to join our Community Advisors board and started volunteering at events across the year. She worked harder than anyone and brought a smile to everyone's face. Every event became brighter and more fun with Simaa there to deliver it with us. Last year, Simaa spoke at a Community Advisors meeting about her experience living in Doncaster after seeking asylum and asked if we could create a project for refugees and asylum seekers. The rest of the group agreed and we've since been working with four members of Conversation Club on a beautiful project called The Album.

Simaa brought sunshine to our lives. She cared so much about the work we did together and put the work in to make things better for Doncaster. She was bursting with ideas of what we should do next. She gave herself - her joy, her warmth and her kindness - to everything and everyone. Simaa will always be an important part of our team. She became family to us.
