Whether you're currently playing, are a former player, or even if you have never tried your hand at playing a brass instrument before. How do you fancy giving it a go?
This is your special one-off chance to see if you are inspired to get into this cultural pastime that predominated Doncaster's entertainment for many years gone by.
Doncaster's Premier Brass Band - the Hatfield & Askern Colliery Band - is hosting an "Ave a' Go” day on Sunday 22nd January 2023. Doors will open at 11:00 am through to 3:00 pm, with current members of the band on hand to answer questions and give advice to aspiring players.
The brass band movement always welcomes new and returning players and our band room door is open for those whose interest is sparked from the session.
About the Hatfield and Askern Colliery Band
Hatfield and Askern Colliery Band are an amateur brass band based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
As the Doncaster area’s leading brass band, they aim to provide entertainment, through concerts and participation in contests, for the enjoyment of all ages – both the public and the band members.
Their principal objective is to advance, improve, develop, and maintain education in, and appreciation of, the art and culture of brass band music in all its aspects, through practice, training, and performance.
As part of our communities’ cultural heritage, they aspire to stimulate and encourage young people to participate in brass band activities, by providing learning and development opportunities and the facilities for anyone who may be interested in learning.
