1.3 Seconds

Guillaume Marmin

ST GEORGE’S MINSTER

18 - 20 November 2022

This light installation by Guillaume Marmin gets its name from the time it takes for light to travel from the earth to the moon at a velocity of 300,000km/s.

The contrast between the darkness and flashes of light will immerse you in an almost overwhelming experience that intends to play with the perception of the existing space.

The light work will highlights the Minster's columns, stained glass windows and overall gothic style, giving you glimpses of architectural details as lights flash and illuminate the grand space.

French artist Guillaume Marmin creates installations and immersive performances featuring light, sound and space. Freed from conventional narrative forms and traditional media, his work takes a fresh approach to visual design. Over the last decade, his creations have been presented in countries across the world, in collaboration with musicians from a variety of genres.

This is the first time that 1.3 Seconds has been exhibited in the UK.
