Wayne Sables - Quarantine Creates

“Through the Right Up Our Street project I was able to connect with a wide range of Doncaster’s communities.

The aim was to capture the positive aspects of the lockdown Through a series of self recorded audio interviews.

The recorded audio was then edited by myself to create a sound score detailing the positives of life in lockdown. Once the audio score was edited it then formed the basis to create a bespoke projection map digital installation using the audio to interact with the digital animations.

Working with key gatekeepers in Doncaster has been pivotal in widening the reach of those able to be involved. Through these gatekeepers we were able to reach from DN1 to DN12.

It’s been a real honour to work on this project I’m here the honest no holes barred stories of life in lockdown across the borough.”

Wayne worked with Akeela Din Mohammed DL. Deputy Lieutenant of South Yorkshire and the community of Doncaster Everyday family, friends, neighbours including some of the most diverse communities in Doncaster.

“As an Independent Community consultant working in Doncaster, I was honoured to be asked by Right Up Our Street to work with one of their artists Wayne sables. Right Up Our Street citizen journalist projection mapping was asking people in Doncaster of the Positives of Lockdown. I was so pleased that Wayne also felt it was so important to hear the voices of people from varied different communities in Doncaster. To me it was important to see them in person with social distance. I think that this made them comfortable to chat and discuss how that really felt.  I'm so pleased that Ruos and Wayne Sables gave people in the BAME communities to voice their hopes and fears during Lockdown.”
